The programme has just been released for the Durham City Aquatics Sprint and Relay Meet 2026, taking place on Sunday 17th May 2026 @ Freemans Quay, Durham.

Read on for full event and entry information…

A fast 8 lane 25m pool with a great programme of events, a fantastic atmosphere provided by a brilliant host club. All swimmers entering will take part in each of the 50m events (Freestyle, Butterfly, Breaststroke, Backstroke), with a single entry fee covering all four events. This event is suitable for all swimmers in Junior squad and above, and swimmers must be age 9 or over as of 17th May 2026 and have Swim England Club Compete membership (upgrade available here) to enter.

NASC entry deadline and form

With this being a first come first served gala, the closing date enables NASC to enter swimmers on the opening day of entries being taken, as well as look at possible relay options from those entering.

Gala Conditions and Programme of Events
Full event details and conditions of entry are available here: Sprint & Relay Meet 2026_v1_draft

Swimmers must not have swum faster than the upper limit times published for the meet (see gala conditions above), for most if not all this will not be an issue but please do check. The upper entry times are based on 50m short course times. Estimated entry times will be submitted where a swimmer does not have a Swim England ranking time in a given event, so this is a great opportunity to post a new time and experience a different event, particularly for newer members, or those looking to achieve County or Regional qualifying times.

Relays!

Should we have enough swimmers in age groups, we will also look at entering relays where possible, with this being included within the cost of the single entry. We need a good turn out to field teams in the three age groups!

Swimmers are required to have Club Compete membership to enter this open gala event. If you need to upgrade your Swim England membership (or are unsure what membership you have) for this event and other open galas and regional / county events please email nasc@nasc.co.uk. This can be processed after the entry deadline providing it is in place for the day of the event.

This is expected to be a Level 3 licensed event (pending approval), enabling swimmers to achieve times for entry into Regional and County Championships. Want to understand the different license levels for events, click here to find out more: https://www.swimming.org/sport/licensed-meets/
