NASC Swim Training Alterations – July 2023

Firstly, thank you all for your perseverance and patience with the Northallerton pool closure. Whilst this has not been ideal for the club, it should provide a better training environment when we return next week.

Training over the next week is disrupted, this is mainly due to my own annual leave and the responsibilities I hold whilst we have facilities such as the school and Bedale Leisure Centre open outside of normal opening times. I hope you appreciate that there has been limited time where this has ever impacted on training schedules.

The existing training alterations Google Sheet will come to an end this week https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1I2atDzwl21ScQt4KrXSymJ90xxLyq-XdQshkoEyfh7s/edit#gid=0

NASC will not be training on the following days:

  • 21/07/2023 Friday
  • 22/07/2023 Saturday
  • 23/07/2023 Sunday
  • 24/07/2023 Monday

The intention is to train Tuesday 25th July as normal, with the ‘normal’ operating schedule coming into play from Wednesday 26th July. This week, the pool at Northallerton has begun its filling and priming sequence. The opening of the pool will be dependent on micro-biological testing that can take several days to come back from the labs. Should there be any updates or delays to the above-mentioned whilst I am away, I will endeavour to communicate these with as much notice as possible.

Sunday evening training will see a slight alteration on our return to NLC as below:

  • Junior Otters3.30pm to 4.30pm
  • Junior Squad3.30pm to 4.30pm
  • Swim Skills 3.30pm to 4.30pm
  • Development Squad 4.30pm to 5.30pm
  • Senior Squad4.30pm to 5.30pm

During the summer holidays there will be no dry side training. This is to ensure that we can return to the pool whilst minimising the impact of cover on the swimmers. The dry side training schedule will start back Monday 4th January.

As you will note from this email we are not taking a summer break, as many clubs tend to, this is with the firm belief that members need to take their own time away from the pool and that our service is part of a routine for many young people. We will endeavour to ensure that there is minimal disruption over the summer holidays.

On Monday 24th I am meeting with colleagues from the Moors Swim Squad to identity the schedule for the next season. This in turn will finalise our competition calendar. On Tuesday 25th I will be emailing our DRAFT competitions calendar for the 2023/24 season.

Finally, I do hope you all have a restful break and enjoy any of the activities you have planned

Kind Regards,

Greg
